Music & Education

Students and adults who undergo musical training in their education have more enhanced science skills and improved cognition, so according to Journal Aesthetic Education are better equipped to learn mathematic and solve complex problems. A musical trained brain in children shows neural enhancement keeps evolving and unfolding over the time of their biological growth hence becoming more rhythmic allowing a child to pick up patterns and visual elements together. A study which was undertook by the university of Kansas and published in 2007 has shown that students enrolling primary schools with strong and advanced musical programs scored 22 percent higher in English and 20 percent higher on standardized tests compared with weaker musical educational programs. My school music coordinator has introduced a new musical program a diversion from traditional old methods which involves only preforming memorized songs. Now a days I teach my students to listen to the musical beats and  turn it to rhythmic patterns by using body percussions or percussions instruments while singing.

Language & Music

Music and language are quite deeply correlated, and from first day of a child conception throughout adolescence and later adulthood, music plays an important role in a person’s linguistic capability. The frontal lob of the brain that deals with   language comprehension and speech is stimulated by musical training to a certain extant so children who have better access to musical learning will have good tonic alignment within their speech segments and according to New York academic of sciences musical learning can greatly improve children fine motor tasks plus memory skills. In the school where I teach students who play musical instrument are mostly bilingual and apt to learn more languages because they are more able to adsorb different sounds coming from new languages .                     Four year old boy plays piano

Music Is A Healer

Music not only can heal your soul, but also physical and emotional well being, it soothes agitated nerves in times of extreme anxiety. Doctors listen to music in operating rooms during surgery to relieve stress, and patients will have better surgical outcomes during recovery. Music can help patients to lower the side affects of chemotherapy by quelling nausea and vomiting, can also diminish the pain meditation for pain relief and help patients who are suffering from depression. During  pregnancy live music can interact with the formation of the fetus inside mother's womb and enhances health brain development.    Music can trigger emotional response to ease a bad temper and heal people from a broken heart or a major disappointment. Through out my whole life I felt that music has provided me health dosages of medicine in difficult days, and has transferred me world of sadness to a world of euphoria.

 Beautiful Relaxing Music

Music Is A Necessity ...

We need food to survive and music to breathe cause it's the oxygen that let us live. It's like a soft breeze stirring our emotions making human life, richer, more beautiful, creative, and it's the best part of human civilization throughout centuries. We listen to music to relax throughout our busy days, energize us to exercise and sometimes help us to sleep at the end of the day. It regulates and manages our mind, body and soul, it also recharges our mental capacity and  boosts our physical performance .Music is an unspoken language when sometimes  no words are there to express and our minds seize to function, so we can only  find music to communicate and  comprehend things more effectively with our heart. Music is as important as science which looks  only  for visible and observable objects where as music searches for the invisible spots in our hearts like telescope and lets us go through our souls connecting thoughts and feelings. I believe music is born within each human being like any other body organ so it cannot be detached from us. Music is a God given talent but no value if we don't nourish and nurture it with the proper guidance.

Musicless World

Life without music is dull, just try to imagine a world with no musical concerts, no musicals in Broadway, no Pavarotti and no dancing with your soulmate. I guess our universe will lack warmth  will be depressing and grim. Music is the apex form of art adding more value to our human life.

Music built by races and nationalities from various part of the world, serve different purposes however listening to  music as a whole will trigger within us common abstract feelings, thoughts and instinctive reactions which make us more aware of our shared humanity. To me musicless world is like living in an  empty space where everything around us is a blank canvas with no colors and no expressions. I can not exist without music; music is life and life is music.

Music Talk To Us...

Music is a main steam human mechanism to communicate our emotions and if you compare it with art and literature it’s the most straight forward way to connect effectively with others. Sometimes if you ask your life partner to listen to a piece of music which you’re quite passionate about actually you want to share a powerful emotional experience with your soulmate and simultaneously feel each other presence. A musical composer can speak to us and let us feel his state of emotions through his own music for example; when Beethoven wrote the Fifth symphony, he was suffering from hearing difficulties and almost deaf, and if you listen to this symphony you can actually feel the composer’s pain and agony that been translated to us within the music. I am keen to play musical pieces which speaks to me and can trigger my tender emotional nerves so any musical piece that doesn't move me while listening, will be dull to me while playing it.

Music is the universal language of mankind.

Cultures in different parts of the world have their own type of music uniquely fitted to their own environment and history that's delighted  by all ages on each landmass. Music is a unifying force that can make races from different cultures come closer and create special bonds hence alleviating various conflicts which might erupt among different culture.
Individuals from different parts of the world sharing passion for music can overcome their struggle with communicating; hence music becomes a useful tool to express with no fear or intimidation. Cultural ties have gotten much closer in the past twenty years because there is a new trend in music where composers borrow rhythmic tunes from different cultures such as Arabic songs using Cuban music creating a special bond among the people of these two nations.

I have the pleasure of visiting Argentina many years ago upon an invitation to play music in a concert. In the hotel where we gathered I met musicians from other parts of the world that where gonna play with me in the same concert, even though we couldn't speak the same language however we mingled and interacted well using a come universal language which is music.

What Is Music...

Music can be described best as an expressive form of art filled with emotions conveying your own feelings through melody and linear sequences of harmonic frequencies. The origin of the word music derives from the Greek word Mousike meaning Art of Muses.
Music is a craftsmanship work that combines vocal or instrumental sounds for the magnificence of shape or emotional expression, which tends to mostly concede with rhythmic and melodic standards of a specific culture.  The first form of music came to light while people were trying to emulate sounds and rhythms being heard in nature. Music is a like mosaic art form which unites word as in songs and physical movement as in a dance. (Epperson, 2019)

I myself was introduced to music at a very young age and I felt in love with the melody coming from a musical instrument know as clarinet, and I decided since then to learn and master playing this beautiful woodwind instrument. which became a part of my life and I turned my passion for music from a hobby to a career.

Online Schooling

Prior to online schooling, there was online dating, which was quite prevalent and widespread, now after Covid19 learning online became an essential necessity for me as a teacher. Firstly I was confused about how to connect with my young students since it's difficult to establish online learning relationships with them. One of the challenges I had was having my kids adapt to this new way of learning due to the virtual classroom atmosphere lacking concrete teacher supervision and more or less parent's carelessness. Another challenge that is quite common in Lebanon is an on and off electricity connection plus an internet connection.   After one year we all got accustomed to online learning let's not forget we had a great deal of help from modern technology apps. If you ask me how I view virtual learning my outlook is quite positive since I'm able to provide almost the same knowledge to my students. No matter what happens there is no alternative to physical school learning.
